Mykonos

Old Town Mykonos

The islands are SO windy. So they have some huge windmills

Rhys and I hanging out in the restaurant to avoid getting blown away

The best way to get around the island

I got up super early on Friday to get to the port to head to Mykonos. Fortunately there were two other girls in my room that were leaving about the same time so we all went together.  The ferry ride was about 5 hours and really wasn’t too bad. I slept and read and the time went by pretty fast. I found an awesome deal on a hotel and I was kind of over sharing a room so I booked a room at Petinos Hotel. I didn’t really know how I was going to get there once I got to the port so once I got to the port I was just looking around and of course there are a ton of taxi drivers everywhere so this driver came and asked me where I was going, gave me a reasonable price so off we went! This wasn’t just a typical taxi however but more of a three-wheeled motorcycle with a little bin in the back for all of my stuff. I’ll post the video. I got to my hotel and I was so pleasantly surprised! I had my own little “apartment” with two beds, a kitchen, and private bathroom, which after staying in a hostel for 8 days seemed like a luxury. I got settled in and headed to one of the two private beaches right at my door. I hung out there for a bit, got lunch at one of the restaurants and just chilled.
The next day I went into Mykonos town. The island is relatively small, and the town is really just a bunch of winding roads and alleys with tons of shops and restaurants. I read that the town and streets were designed to confuse pirates so it was a tricky little area. It was fun to just explore and look around. That afternoon I went back to the beach and hung out for a couple of hours. Rhys got into Mykonos that day as well so he came by the hotel and we hung out for a few hours in the restaurant because the weather was crazy!! The wind on these islands is seriously enough to blow you over so we took refuge in the restaurant. All in all Mykonos was a very chill couple of days and it was so nice to relax after running all over Italy and Athens.
